I tried Google’s NotebookLM

Today, after watching Andrej Karpathy’s video on LLMs, I tried NotebookLM from Google to generate an audio podcast. I let the AI generate a podcast based on one of Avi Loeb’s papers about Oumuamua (you can have a quick read about Oumuamua here), and I am very impressed with the audio quality. Check out my AI-generated audio podcast here. Did you like it? Imagine, you can load multiple papers on Google’s NotebookLM, let the AI generate the audio podcast, and later just listen to it while jogging, or driving, as Andrej mentioned as well in his video below. Try it out for yourself!

Why Oumuamua? Well, I mentioned several times on my blog and even on my CV that I study ancient advanced technologies as a hobby. In 2018, for example, I wrote here about the fact that we are not alone in the universe. During the two-week winter vacation in December 2024, I read some of Avi Loeb’s research papers related to Oumuamua, like this, this, this, and this one, to name only a few. I even bought one of his books from Amazon.de called „Extraterrestrial: The First Sign of Intelligent Life Beyond Earth„, which is now part of my library.

Speaking of books, check out also the Compendium Of The Emerald Tablets.

I think NotebookLM can greatly help us understand certain subjects quicker, and even better than listening to a single (mostly boring) professor or having our hands busy with text-based-only LLMs. Very cool.
