My new favorite place for Pizza Napoletana is in Naples, Italy

Since a few days, I’m in Naples, Italy, enjoying some well-deserved holidays. The main reason for coming to this city was to try pizza Napoletana, my favorite pizza, as you might already know from my old posts seen here and here. I always like to order a pizza Margherita. My favorite place to go and eat pizza Napoletana in Naples is called L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele.

A pizza Margherita costs here only 6€. You can easily find this pizzeria, as there are always people from all over the world staying daily outside, eager to try da Michele’s famous pizzas. They have two entrances, each in a different building. On one entrance, you go and take the physical number ticket (either for when you want to eat inside, or for when you want to order a pizza to-go); then you need to wait around 20-30 minutes for your number to be called, depending on the amount of people in line before you; then, in case you want to eat inside, you will be told to go either in the first building, or the second one (where they will have seats available). Once you are inside, the people will try to place you at a table of their choice (for example, in the second building, they might tell you to go in the basement instead of the main floor; in case you are claustrophobic, just tell them straight boldly that you want to have a table on the main floor, and they will give it to you). After being in heaven for a few minutes enjoying their pizza, when it comes to paying, they always prefer cash, but you can also pay with a card, of course. Note 1: They will always ask for a tip in cash only; Note 2: You will be charged 1€ just because they placed you at the table.

I have to say that this is the best pizza Napoletana I have ever eaten. What sets this pizza apart from all other pizza Napoletanas I’ve tried before is the quality of the fresh ingredients, and the delicious taste of the burned bottom part of the pizza due to the wood they use and their pizza oven.

What I also like about da Michele is that all their 4 pizzas found in the menu are vegetarian.

PS. Naples is a busy city with cool buildings and great architecture, reminding me of New Delhi, India. The atmosphere is humid here, so I enjoy the most pistachio ice cream from Il Gelato Mennella and the fresh lemonade made of freshly squeezed lemons (sometimes also with a pinch of Sodium bicarbonate).

In the evening, I enjoy reading Avi Loeb’s book called „Extraterrestrial: The First Sign of Intelligent Life Beyond Earth„ mentioned last month here.
