Shanghai’s Best Sesame Paste Noodles? Weixiangzhai!

We are both vegetarians. Dipty since birth due to being raised in a Hindu family, me since February 2014 due to a natural phenomenon I wrote about here before. Therefore, because we are both foodies, and pretentious when it comes to vegetarian food choices, when we recommend something, we mean it.

Today, we discovered a very nice place where we ate vegetarian noodles with sesame paste as well as vegetarian noodles with mushrooms and tofu, and wanted to share it here with you in case you are in Shanghai and want to try it out. For both dishes, we paid 29 CNY (3,60 Euros). And the chilli oil there is sooo delicious as well. The place is called Weixiangzhai (since 1937) and lucky for us (its a chain, with one of its location being also mentioned in the Michelin guide), is like 30 meters away from our hotel. How lucky we are with this hotel location: having dancing people in the Liyuan park, delicious vegetarian steam bun (Shao Bao) just few meters to the left of our hotel, and a few more meters away, but on the other side of the road, this Weixiangzhai place with super delicious sesame paste noodles and tofu and mushrooms noodles soup.

Today, we also enjoyed 1,5h of Shanghai sightseeing (the red route of the bus sightseeing we started yesterday). Amazing how many things Shanghai has to offer. Dipty already hints at me to start looking for a job here in Shanghai.
